Sound properties of EIFS?

Post by Aaberg »

An architect friend helping with my studio build wrote this:
“The EIFS does a couple of things - provides a continuous insulation over the wall system, and provides a water barrier that the CMU needs to keep things nice and dry. I think a 1” insulation would be adequate since you’ll be furring the interior walls and insulating those.“
I’m aware of the benefits of EIFS in other areas but can find nothing about their effects on sound.
Any info appreciated.

A quick google shows that the insulation part is polystyrene bead. IMO this has no significant acoustic properties
