WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO THIS WEBSITE NOW?

As most of you already know, sadly John Sayers passed away recently. He was a great man in the audio world for decades, in recording, producing, mixing, and many other aspects, as well as a great studio designer. He will be sorely missed.
Part of the legacy that John leaves behind is his website and this forum, with its thousands of members and enormous wealth of acoustic knowledge. Many of you are certainly wondering what will happen to it, now that John is gone. We finally have an answer!
A group of us (Glenn, Greg, and myself) have contacted John's family, and have been give authorization to keep the forum going: administer it, update it, and make sure that John's huge contribution to the Studio Design world is not lost. This is our tribute to John.
Over the next few weeks you might notice some changes to the forum, as we take care of maintenance issues behind-the-scenes and bring the site up to date. We will probably eventually move the site to a different server, since the cost of the current hosting service is rather expensive. However, our number one priority is to keep the site running smoothly, and mostly the changes will not be noticeable. We will try to keep the transition as seamless as possible.
Basically, everything should remain fully operational, and the moderators and more experienced members will still be available to answer questions and offer advice, the same as before.
We plan to keep John's memory alive, through the forum.
RIP, John L. Sayers.
(Glenn, Greg, and Stuart)

That's very sad news indeed.
I've been lurking here for years (without a single post, it would seem!) and have learnt a great deal from John's site and posts here, as well as other contributors such as yourself. It's an invaluable resource and is the first place I head to for anything acoustics or studio design related, keeping it going will undoubtedly help a lot of people. Credit to you all for taking it on.

Thank you Stuart, Glenn and Greg!
It truly would have been a crime to lose this resource

Hi Stuart, Glenn and Greg,
I'm really glad that you guys have decided to carry on with John's work and continue his great Legacy.
What an absolute Gentlemen he was, a true inspiration, an innovator and absolute creative.
I myself had just officially engaged John to design my studio just before his passing. I emailed and spoke to John on a lot of topics and our last conversation was about a week before he suddenly died.
John had told me that he had my entire studio designed and ready to go, but unfortunately we have not been able to find any of his plans.
So I was hoping that I could reach out to you guys and continue the discussion for the official design, which I am hoping we can get done pretty soon.
Looking forward to hearing back - I can go into more detail from there.

I'm also a long time user here, I'm very saddened by the news of John's passing.
I am very grateful for your efforts to keep this magnificent resource alive. For what it's worth, I think you should consider some kind of donation page, at least towards the cost of maintaining the server and website/forum - I work as a web developer and I know how much effort that can involve, especially if you have people who are unfamiliar with the hardware/software in use.

Been a few months since I'd checked in, only to find I've lost another friend and mentor; RIP John, you will indeed be sorely missed.
When John invited me to moderate the Construction forum in 2003, I told him about my rocky start in 1981 and the succeeding 20 years of buying expensive books and study; his response: "You haven't said anything on other forums that I disagree with, so how 'bout it?"
In the next 8-9 years I learned more, helped more people than I thought possible, and made more online friends/mentors (RIP, Erik) - Thank you John, your faith changed my life so many ways; and all for the BETTER.
Stuart, I don't think you and I have talked much (if at all) but I've read enough of your help to others to have NO DOUBT that this site is in good hands; you, Glen and Gregg are to be commended, thank you for your dedication... Steve

Been a while since I've been here as well. But very sad to hear, I've used the info here for years for reference and knowledge.
John will be sorely missed, but glad his legacy can live on in these pages.
Thanks for the initiative and hard work to keep it alive.

Oh man. I had no idea. I haven't been here in a while. My condolences to the family and friends. I am glad to hear it will keep going though. This is one of the best forums of any subject I've ever found.

Hey Stuart (and Glenn and Greg)
Adam here...the South African in LA who you helped out in 2011 when I was designing and building.
I was so sorry to hear of John's passing. Very sad. His contribution to this community is really immeasurable. I cannot count how many people I have sent to this forum to learn and ask questions. I'm really glad you guys are continuing on with the site.
Thank you very much for that.
All the best.
