Ethernet with metal studs - Conduit?

Hey all,

I can try to check with my local building code, but if I’m building metal stud walls in my basement and I plan to have an Ethernet jack in the wall, do I need to wrap that wire in conduit? The stud cavities will be insulated with R19 fiberglass. You can see my overall plan here.

I debated using the Studio Construction forum, but I figured since this question was somewhat wiring-related I would post here.

Thanks in advance.

as long as the wiring is plenum jacket rated, you should be ok to run the wires via the stud openings.

Thanks Glenn. I’ll get plenum-rated CAT7. From a cursory look it’s not cheap.
