Adding diffusion to rockwool bb absorbers - BAD masks

Hi

I have rockwool RW3 broadband absorbers (120x60x10cm) I built for a smallish live room. Im looking at adding some diffusion to avoid over-deadening the room and got a price for 6mm BAD “masks” that could be fitted over the front, basically from the RPG BAD panels. http://www.rpgeurope.com/products/product/bad.html

I believe this would work well but as a novice I’d be interested to hear thoughts?

Any idea how this BAD mask/ RW3 would compare to a product like GIK 244 panels with scatter plate? https://gikacoustics.co.uk/product/gik- ... echnology/

Thanks!

depends on the environment you're putting them into, a high end critical listening space with most of the timing and frequency responses all optimized well - you'd probably notice a difference. if you have audiophilitis - depending on the expense, you'll definitely hear a difference (more $$$ = better sound ;) )
but if it's just a subjective assessment, either should do it (as a disclaimer i created the first version of GIK scatter plates for Glenn a while back as it was something i was doing in my own designs). the BAD units have more math behind their operation but as noted in the preface for this reply, unless your listening space is really optimized, the differences would tend to be slight.
another option - depending on how you have the absorption distributed - leaving gaps can create the support for higher frequencies with the cavaet that you don't want them mirrored or too wide so as to induce slap echoes.
