DIY acoustic treatment plan

Post by krilumino »

I am planning on treating the acoustics of part of my studio; for now, the entire wall behind my desk, and about 4 feet of the cornering walls. My plan is to build a wood frame in front of the drywall, with vertical wooden beams within the frame every 2nd building-beam. Then filling the frame with Owens Corning 703, and staple some felt or other black cloth over the panels, to the wood beams, sealing the panels, and finishing the project. I'm still researching the best way to mount the 703 to the drywall, or if it should be mounted to the frame in some way instead.

The project I'm thinking will cost about $500. Overall, can I do any better? What are your thoughts? Do you think I could make it better for the same money, or make it substantially better for just a little bit more? I've never done any real acoustic treatment before, and am mostly planning based on what Bobby Owsinski talked about in his lecture
