Using a Iphone as my SPL Meter

I bought an SPL meter that is only dbA it's only A-weighted. The only other option I have is using a Iphone. Can this be used accurately or near enough.

I use iOS all the time in Noise Consulting.

Studiosixdigital have articles on the use of onboard iPhone and external mics. And of course SLM and other Apps.
The Faber Acoustical apps are also excellent and look great on screen.
