Wood box enclosure ok for subs or not?

Hello all!
I'm adding subwoofers to my speakers. Since space is limited, my plan is to put them inside the insulation which I currently have on my front wall, where they will fit quite nicely.
Now, my question is, I need something to hold all the insulation away from the sub. Some kind of box (with open front of course). But, my intuition tells me a wooden box might not be ideal, because it will resonate and stuff maybe?
So the other option is to use some kind of steel net construction maybe. A bit more trouble, but acoustically transparent I guess?
Or is some kind of wood construction ok?
Grateful for advice!
