Alternative to Soundcheck plaster

Have had some ridiculously exy quotes to put up Soundcheck plaster (my plaster jobs always look shite).

So.......

Does anyone know of any alternatives in a kind of "lining board" format?

Currently have 5 mm/8 Kg MLV as my outside layer in the sandwich, 70 mm air gap filled with acoustic batts.

Cheers,
Bob.

Plain old ordinary drywall (plasterboard) will work just fine. Contrary to marketing hype, there is no advantage from "magical" materials used in wall. Mass is mass, and sound waves don't care how much you pay for it: They react exactly the same to mass that cost you 100 dollars as they do to mass that cost you 500 dollars. The sound waves can't read the price tags, so they just don't care, and only react to the mass itself. So just get ordinary common drywall (plasterboard), and use that.

Ummm... this might seem like it's a bit derogatory, but that's not the intention: why on earth did you cover your walls with extremely expensive mass, when any other kind of mass would do the exact same job, far cheaper?

Of course, it's too late to do anything about it now, and it will help to improve isolation, but you could have got the same effect for half the cost. There's no point in taking down the MLV, since you won't be able to return it for a refund, so your best option is just to put up ordinary 16mm drywall on top, then mud and tape in the normal way, sand and paint. Any good drywaller can do that for you.. or you can do it yourself.

Hi Stuart,
I suspect I wasn't clear, soz.........

I DO NOT want to use plasterboard unless I have to, because the quotes I have for installing it seem really exy, and my own plastering jobs are shite. So.......... I am chasing something easier to put up, maybe something which resembles lining boards, so I can do it myself.

Cheers,
Bob.
