I have a question about the green glue. I could not find the answer on their website, or here. Once the drywall is sandwich together with the green glue, how soon can I put the backing rod around the perimeter and then seal it up with the Green Glue sealant? Do I need to wait 24hrs before caulking? I realize the Green Glue never really dries but just want to make sure before applying the sealant. Thanks

I'm 99.9% sure you can seal it immediately.

I can't stress enough to stay away from Green Glue Sealant though. It cracks almost every time.

It doesn't play well with water, but where I'm from, the cheapest and best alternative is called DynaFlex 230 in color white. I tried everything I could get my hands on here. It goes on very easy and doesn't seem to shrink at all. It comes in small tubes which makes it easier to maneuver and is less fatiguing to carry.

Uh oh. I have cases of this sealant. Wonder if I can take it back. I thought since it’s made by the same company it would be good. Thanks for the heads up. I’m still doing the rim joist now so I think you caught me in time. I’ve gone through at least a case or better.

You can indeed caulk immediately as Greg said. I’ve also found the Sheetrock brand sealant to be superior to the GG and OSI brands.
