Hello,

I am new to this forum. With help from a friend, I am looking into building a vocal booth for singing practice and recording.

I am a beginner when it comes to designing such things.

I am specifically looking for books on this topic, could anyone give me any advice on some good books which would help me do this.

Thank you

Hi there " Midnight378", and welcome! :)

I'm not aware of any books specific to designing a vocal booth, but there are several that deal with acoustics and studio design in general, and they would provide enough information for you to be able to design a vocal booth.

I'd suggest two books: "Master Handbook of Acoustics" by F. Alton Everest (that's sort of the Bible for acoustics), and "Home Recording Studio: Build it Like the Pros", by Rod Gervais. The first one will give you the background in acoustics that you need to be able to design a studio, and the second one will give you the basics for actually designing it and building it.

Also, look around the forum! There are many threads by forum members who have successfully designed and built their studios that do include vocal booths. You could probably pick up several tips from them.

Once you start working on your design, please do post that here, along with your thoughts, goals, and other details of your build: it would be very useful for others in the future, searching for the same thing, and we might even be able to help you refine and improve the concept.
