DIY Construction Drawing?

How thick should my walls be, should I float my floors (and if so, how), why is two leaf mass-air-mass design important, etc.

DIY Construction Drawing?

Post by DanCostello »

So, I'm starting the process of applying for permits for my basement buildout and the city requires that I submit construction drawings with the application.

What are you guys using to generate these drawings?

I've got a fairly detailed sketchup model of the space, but it doesn't "look" like a traditional construction drawing, and from what I understand, the construction drawing export feature is an add-on that only works with the expensive Pro version of Sketchup, not the free DIY version.

If needed, I could probably re-build the model in a way that looks more like a typical construction drawing, but is there a faster/easier way than that? Is there a better tool to use than Sketchup?

Hi Dan :)

When you open sketchup and goes to templates. There is an option to choose construction documentation. It is in planview. But you would probably have to do a new sketch. Hope this helps.

All the best
