I am having a room created in a therapy clinic that will be as quiet as possible for my hypnotherapy sessions I will be conducting. Through the front wall is a busy road and underneath is a studio space where there will often be baby massage classes happening. I am looking to have an independent wall next to the front wall and doing 75mm Rockwool insulation with a genie clip/furring channel, 2 layers of plasterboard with green glue between.
I have never done this level of construction before! I have a builder on hand who is good at what he does but wants me to specify what I want him to do for him to do it...I think he is scared of making recommendations and them not working so doing it this way he won't get the blame! He is the best I can afford so don't tell me to ditch him!
I just started reading on the Rockwool website about "breather membranes" though and wondered if I would need one and if so why? Lots of the sites I have been reading (mainly forums) that have focused on making recording studios or practise rooms haven't mentioned breathable membranes but now it is cropping up more in my research. Did you use one? Info would be very appreciated!
