Room dimension where ceiling is largest dimension?

Hey all,

I can across a space for lease that used to house a small studio and was built with the room in a room (mass-air-mass) construction. I am very interested in renting this space since it is already constructed and pretty much move in ready (minus some cosmetics). However, I was looking for some feedback on the room dimensions because the ceiling is the highest dimension which I am not used to seeing and have no clue if it will yield good results acoustically.

The control room is about 12 ft by 17 ft with 14.5 ft ceiling.

The isolation room is 10 ft by 11 ft with 14.5 ft ceiling.

Would these rooms give me any major issues or are these configuration workable?

It's unusual, but there's nothing wrong with that. Sound waves don't care which way is "up".

That's actually a very nice ratio! It's in the Bolt area (just), it passes all three BBC critical test, it has good modal distribution, the Bonello graph is reasonably smooth, there's plenty of volume.... It should work rather well, actually.

Is this a vocal booth, or just a general purpose iso booth? It's a generous size too, and high ceilings are great for most instruments.

I don't see any major issues there, and the CR particularly should be decent.

But if you are concerned, the best thing to do would be to set up a pair of good speakers in the CR, at the correct locations, and run a set of REW tests. Post the MDAT file here, and I'd be happy to take a quick look at it for you.

Awesome! Thanks for the quick response. The other room would be used mainly for vocals, but I would like to use it as a multipurpose room in case we wanted to record instruments also. I will not be recording live drums.
