Does it make sense to build a control room with a combination of hangers (on the rear wall), Superchunks (in the front corners) and broadband absorbers (on the side and front walls)?

Possibly. It all depends on the overall room design concept, the size (dimensions), the purpose, the speakers, the ceiling, the floor, the wall construction materials, and the acoustic goals for the room. Among other things.
