hi guys i have a
room with following dimensions and i can increase or decrease it first to get the perfect ratio
Room Dimensions: Length=17.91 ft, Width=12.45 ft, Height=10 ft
Room Ratio: 1 : 1.24 : 1.79
i saw this by bruce sweden 16l:12.5w:10h good studio for control room !
1) now my first question is what should i do to decrease the length of the studio so that i can reach from 17.9 to 16 feet ? should i build room inside of a room which will help me in decreasing the size by keeping a gap
2) secondly i can increase the width as i one side open as its a garage .what do u think ?
3) should i consider such things in order to achieve the perfect ratios or should i simply stay with the ratios i have ?
4) do u think i can achieve best results with such a room size ? for control and recording room !
i would love to get answers from the pros
need idea for one control + rec room

Hi " Adamya". Please read the forum rules for posting (click here). You seem to be missing a couple of things!
That's a pretty decent sized room.

Actually, there's no such thing as a perfect ratio. There are only good ones and bad ones. The good ones are mostly inside the Bolt Area, and the bad ones are mostly outside it.and i can increase or decrease it first to get the perfect ratio
That is reasonably close to Louden's second best ratio (1 : 1.3 : 1.9), which is number six on the list of preferred ratios. However, your ratio fails one of the 3 BBC critical tests.Room Dimensions: Length=17.91 ft, Width=12.45 ft, Height=10 ft
Room Ratio: 1 : 1.24 : 1.7
That's a pretty decent sized room.
Why do you want to reduce the length to 16 feet? That would make the ratio 1 : 1.24 : 1.6, which is number 14 on the list. I would imagine there are much better ratios that you could reach by adjusting the other parameters.what should i do to decrease the length of the studio so that i can reach from 17.9 to 16 feet
If it would get you a better ratio, then yes, that might be an option. A bigger room is usually better, acoustically, so it would be worth looking at that,2) secondly i can increase the width as i one side open as its a garage .what do u think ?
As I mentioned above, there's no such thing as a perfect ratio. You could probably improve your ratio, get a better one, but "perfect" doesn't exist, so there's no point trying to get there!3) should i consider such things in order to achieve the perfect ratios or should i simply stay with the ratios i have ?
You have a bit more than 200 square feet of floor area there, which is about the minimum size recommended by the ITU, EBU, AES and other organizations for a good control room. If you were to try to make it into two rooms, they would both be too small, so it's probably better to go with just one single room, as you are planning.4) do u think i can achieve best results with such a room size ? for control and recording room !

Re: need idea for one control + rec room
thanks for the reply stuart ill check what all iv been missing in my profile and update .
yes i had been using room mod calculator and it showed me that i was close to
6) M. M. Louden: 1971: 2nd best ratio" 1 : 1.3 : 1.9
i know there is no perfect ratio but i meant a ratio which is normally preferred
ok now is will increase d length to 19 and width to 13 to match the ratio above ! this will help me get good results i think ?
i will add drawings and pics asap
iv also read that control room should be as dead as possible ! and recording room 25% less dead than control room.
so how will i compensate all in one room ?
regards
adamya
