Hello,
I am planning the treatment for my room, as you can see in the picture the room have a oblique wall where a door, for what I use as a vocal booth, is placed.
The studio at the moment is empty and I have to place some acoustic treatment, I do not have big skills in building treatment, but I can manage to build some superchunk.
The studio is located in the basement of an old building, the two doors are heavy and rated at 45db.
The wall where the two door are placed, is made of plasterboard and concrete. The wall with the cavity and the one with the window are really thick,55cm, and made of tuff I think. The well opposite to the doors is made of 20cm concrete
I have some treatment left from my old studio:
144x64x10cm Bass trap x 6
240x104x10cm Bass Trap x 2
202x115x20cm Bass Trap x 1
94x122x30cm 1D Diffuser x 2
I am attaching an idea, where the speakers will be placed in the larger part of the room, I am wasting a lot of space trying to mimic the same oblique wall on the opposite side with a bass trap (I used the two 104cm wide I have, its the light grey one). I am planning to build also a cloud and some superchunk.
The diffusers are the big block of wood. The table is the one in the sketchup plan
I am concerned about the odd shape of the room because I want to maintain a good stereo field.
What is your advice?
What would you change to my plan?
(I attached the sketchup plans)
This is a mix and sound design room, where I also record some sounds, so I need space.

Re: Advice needed for non-rectangular room
You didn't mention how much construction you can really do here. But, I would build in a wall like you have in your Treatment 1 pic, and turn the control room around so that the console faces into the narrower part of the room with the wide area behind you. I think the angles will work better for building an RFZ design that way. Might even have enough room to build a soffet wall in front of the mix position. Then treat the rest of the room as necessary.

Re: Advice needed for non-rectangular room
You could soffit mount the speakers without loosing a lot of space. This will of course cost a little more than 1000€, but it will eliminate the SIBR problems. I say this, because the placement of those door will make it difficult to move those speakers further away from the wall and with a minimum budget, placement and bass trapping is what you get most of!
Post some pictures of the room as well! Sketchup models are nice, but pictures tell further details.

Re: Advice needed for non-rectangular room
Hi Bebbo, and welcome!
I would just do another superchunk in that rear corner, similar to the ones in the front corner, and make them all about 60m deep, at least. Then put thick absorption on the angled wall and door at the left rear: as thick as you can, but at least 15cm.
But your basic layout is fine, and should work well, as long as you get lots of bass trapping in the corners.

Those are not very thick. Bass traps need to be n¿much thicker than that, for small rooms.144x64x10cm Bass trap x 6
240x104x10cm Bass Trap x 2
202x115x20cm Bass Trap x 1
What type of diffuser? What frequency is it tuned to? Your room is not big enough to be able to use a diffuser successfully. You need at least 3m between the diffuser and your ears, and probably more, depending on the frequency it is tuned to.94x122x30cm 1D Diffuser x 2
It is not too bad, since the front pat of the room is still symmetrical. That's the most important part: form the front wall to just behind your head. It is nice if you can make the pack half symmetrical too, but not 100% necessary.I am concerned about the odd shape of the room because I want to maintain a good stereo field.

Actually, you can! It's not easy to get it right, but it can be done....My speakers are Dyanudio BM5a MkII , I can not soffit mount them.
