xlr / trs combo connectors

I have soldiered 4 of these connectors and on the XLR part of the jack and the XLR ONLY (trs is fine) when I plug to xlr cables in to my live wire cable tester and connect them to the wall connectors on either side of the run pins 2 and 1 cold and shield respectively are showing a short on all 4 of them (but for XLR only TRS is fine). Is this normal? No other xlr connectors (NON combo) have this short so it not the XLR cables I'm using and the TRS does not have a shield short either. I have a hard time believing that I made the same short on all 4 connectors while soldiering everything else correctly so is this the way it should read or do I have bad batch of connectors?
