You got it RHT 40 is the substitute that seems to spec out the closest and cost a heck of a lot less than the 703. it's what i put on my walls in my Live room :)

I'll start posting pics soon, it's a pretty basic setup. The basement has to double as mine and my girlfriends apt. So I'm not going all out, but trying to make it sound good none the less. One day I'll build a proper studio, for now this project will have to do.

Thanks Bryan

No Prob go to John's construction site and take a look at Patricks Den Recording pics. they are old however and dont show where I am at today. I got trim work left to do. Tuff on a poor guy who does not do construction for a living. LOL

Neither do they showthe live room completed.

One day I will get the final pics, just not in a hurry. Too busy mixing in this wonderful sounding room :)

So, i found out that the company that sells the RHT 40 has a minimum order of 100 freaking bundles of this stuff, that's 500 damn sheets. I only need 75.

However; they stock RHF 40.

The girl i spoke too said that RHF 40 is identical only a little more rigid. I checked the coefficients and they're the same. Anyone see any harm in going with this instead?

Looks fine to me. my dealer stocked the RHT so that is what I bought.

Seems like the same stuff just for a diff app. if it is more rigid, this next studio I build I'll prolly use it :)

I think you'll be just fine. :)

ISOFAB in the Toronto area sells Ottawa Fibre products that are nearly identical to OC703. They have no minimum order, and for 10 bats of 3" they cost me $41 CDN each (48 each for less than 10) with free delivery.

Roxul RHT 40

Hello,

I'm going to purchase some Roxul RHT 40 for bass traps as well as broadband absorption. I was wondering since the specs of 2" RHT 40 show not great low end performance, if placing it in a corner, as a bass trap, with an air space behind it would improve the bass absorption. I would rather not buy 3-4" (which have better low-end freq. numbers) because of space/money considerations.

Thanks,

Tony

I'm confused (don't worry, I do that naturally). Your asking about spacing 2", which will end up using the space as 3-4" solid...

If you are price concsious, price out Roxul's Safe N Sound. You wil be amazingly pleased.

With great value:

Sorry for the confusion,

I will be placing the insulation in the corner of a room to control bass as a bass trap. The insulation is 2" thick, if I place the insualtion in the corner but leave an air pocket behind it, will it the bass absorption be better than the specs they show on their site? As far as the Safe N Sound, I've seen it at Home Depot, it looks good but for my purposes it would be easy to use a more rigid fibreglass.

Thanks,

Tony
