I was curious if it would be wise to store gear, C-stands, reflectors, etc, within the space created between the leafs of a room within a room? Or should the air space be left pristine?

I may have enough room to have a 1-2 foot air space between the outer and inner room. Just asking.

I guess you could do that: I can't think of any reason why it would affect MSM resonance or isolation... provided that none of the stands creates a flanking path between the leaves. But the question is, how would you get to them? There's usually no access to the air cavity, so how would you make that accessible?

I'm also wondering why you need such a big air cavity in your place: 2 feet is huge! Even 1 foot is pretty big. Most air cavities are around 6" to 8". I mean, there's nothing wring with using a very large cavity if you want to, but it does waste space so I'm curious as to why you need it to be so big.

I am really trying to create a video editing suite, it will be disguised as a shed in my back yard. Vocal recording will constitute 90% of any audio recording I may do. I hope my "artwork" uploaded properly.
I originally planned to construct the room within a room with an added framed in area for my gear. Then I began to wonder if I could use the air gap for storage and forego the one wall and maybe hand my C-stands in the smaller between space and the reflectors, back drops, lights, etc in the larger open area. Right now, all my video gear is all jammed in my real tool shed. I do not want to build another shed for the video gear.

When we first moved to LA, my Dad leased an office at the old American Zoetrope Studio. The old projection room sound stage was a room within a room. There was at least 4-6 feet "air gap" between the walls. There were light stands, rolls of wire, etc. laying around in that space and that memory has stuck with me all these years.

From the sounds of it, that studio may not have been following the strict MSM room within a room building design. It may well have been a room within a room, but it the two leafs were not sealed from each other, then it probably wasn't operating as a true MSM design.

It was originally Howard Hughes' lot, so it was most likely the early days of motion picture acoustics.
