Hey guys, I'm a first time poster. I wrote out a long post then deleted, simplified and rewrote it in hopes of making it easier to understand. Hope this works.

I've been looking at spaces to build a studio and I've found a really good price on a space that I like. The big exception is that it is a 3,600SF open square shaped basement that has a 7ft(after I put in Isolation) ceiling and concrete floors.

There are floor to ceiling wood columns every 20ft parallel to the walls.

So the question is, can I work with a 7 foot ceiling and concrete floors? It's 3,600 square feet so I can put walls wherever I want. So 20ft width is where I'd like to put a wall given that is where there are floor to ceiling wood columns.

Will the reflections be too much to work with? I'd like some roomy sounds but will I have to deaden the hell out of it?

Thanks! The circles are the floor to ceiling wood beams. It is actually symmetrical, I'm just not good with Sketch Up.

3600 SQ FT??!!! That is HUGE!! I think 7ft should be ok. It might not be good for a control room but maybe you can make up for that with other dimensions. are you floating the ceiling? what is above the basement? what is bottom of the ceiling? concrete? what isolation is going the ceiling? is the basement completely below ground?

Concrete is the best flooring for studio!! no flooring change needed!! depending on what is going above the the ceiling the columns and how you attach to them they will possibly act as flanking path for sound. A 20 x 20 room is still very big, that will be the size of my whole studio including sound lock, bathroom, live/ control room, and iso booth.

unless you use whole room with out adding any walls there shouldn't be any reflection problems as you can make the rooms any size you want. Got any pictures of this place?
