Some Design Questions

Hi guys,

Im working on a sketch of a new recording studio from scratch. I have just a few basic questions and could use some help with those :)

first of all, the Control room can have any size we want, because we have the possibility to rent an empty old factory. In the drawing we came up with the dimensions 6.83 (L) x 5.50 (W) x 3.75 (H) Metric.
I have calculated the roommodes thanks to Bob Golds and discovered that it's not an ideal dimension. How big of a problem would this be?
Furthermore, in the back of the room, we were thinking about a tiny uprising of 20cm high, 1m in length of the room and completely in the width. Is this a good idea?
We have also kept in mind to make a Bass trap at the back of the room, with diffusion in the middle (Low and high diffusion). The Bass trap will be from 78cm to 118cm. Is this enough?

I will soon post a picture from the sketch file :-)

Any Help and info would be really appreciated!

Fabian

Fabian, please read the forum rules for posting (click here). You seem to be missing a couple of things! :)

It looks good to me: that's very close to Louden's best ratio. You have good modal distribution down to about 41 Hz, and modal support down to 24 Hz. I don't see a problem.
Furthermore, in the back of the room, we were thinking about a tiny uprising of 20cm high, 1m in length of the room and completely in the width. Is this a good idea?
It is a potential problem: it could turn into a resonant "box" if there is an air cavity inside. You would have to be careful about how you build it....
We have also kept in mind to make a Bass trap at the back of the room, with diffusion in the middle (Low and high diffusion). The Bass trap will be from 78cm to 118cm. Is this enough?
I can't comment on that without seeing what you are proposing.
I will soon post a picture from the sketch file
That would help, yes!
