Small mixing room treatment

Hi everyone!
I am a producer from Athens Greece,and i would like to apply acoustic treatment for better mixing-mastering purposes.
I am not going to record anything,and i don't have neighbors problems :) .
I want just to treat my room and reduce the effects of bass problems,flutter echo and etc .
Because my room is too small i face strange bass problems.
I know that it is impossible to create the "perfect" place in my room,so i just want to reduce problems.

Room specifications (First 3 pictures)
L=3.50 m
W=2.60 m
H=2.80 m

-Carpet on the floor
-Right wall is plasterboard (side where door is placed),the others drywalls.

So i was thinking of
-placing bass traps covering 3 corners (at window corner ,bass trap on a stand)
placing absorption panels
-two at 1st reflection spots,right and left
-one behind speakers,one at the back wall,and one at the 2nd reflection point.(Only on the left)
Maybe and one panel for ceiling.

Something like that. (see pictures 4-5-6)

So will this treatment get things sound better?
First step of course is to measure with REW my current listening spot,and take out the graphs to face the problem with numbers.
Also ,do i have to place speakers on stands,and not on the desk?Is this a rule?
Budget is limited so i am going the DIY way!
Thanks in advance!
Best regards Nick

Hi Nick, and welcome! :)
L=3.50 m
W=2.60 m
H=2.80 m
That's reasonable. Not perfect, but also not terrible.
-Carpet on the floor
There is your first problem: Remove the carpet. It is not doing anything good for you, and in fact is messing up the room response. Carpet does the exact opposite of what you need to do in your room.
-placing bass traps covering 3 corners (at window corner ,bass trap on a stand)
Yes!
placing absorption panels
-two at 1st reflection spots,right and left
Yes, but you are forgetting the most important first reflection point: the really big one, on the ceiling, right above the desk....! That needs lots of absorption too. A cloud would work well.
-one behind speakers,one at the back wall,and one at the 2nd reflection point.(Only on the left)
Yes!
So will this treatment get things sound better?
Yes! The difference will be very noticeable. A big improvement.
Also ,do i have to place speakers on stands,and not on the desk?Is this a rule?
Well, it's not a "rule": it's just the only intelligent way to do it! :) If the speakers are on the desk or the console meter bridge, then that creates a lot of acoustic problems that can be avoided very easily but NOT putting them there...

The very best place for speakers is IN the front wall, properly flush mounted. Second best is on massively heavy stands, up against the front wall.
