Clarification on perforated panel terminology

Greetings.
I am going to trail some homemade perforated panels, using Chris Whealy's calculator.

Apologies in advance should these inquiries seems naive:

"Absorber against panel" - means, literally, the absorber material (Acoustisorb 3?.....) is placed directly against the panel which is perforated with an abundance of correctly placed & sized holes.

"Absorber against backing" - the absorber material is placed against the wall, which the perforated panel (adhered to a box/frame of suitable depth) is placed against.

"Repeat distance" - the distance, centre to centre, of the perforations from each other.

I would greatly appreciate any illumination.

Cheers,
Bob.

Hi Bob. Just noticed that I missed this, and never replied!

Those terms are explained on the "Configuration" tab, but yes, basically "Absorber against panel" means that the insulation is tight up against the actual perf panel, with an air gap behind it, while "Absorber against backing" means that the insulation is tight up against the rear side of the cavity, far away from the panel, and the air gap is between the panel and the insulation.

The "Repeat distance" is also explained on that tab.
