I just finished hanging drywall for these rooms and I need some help on how to treat the rooms acoustically. I am thinking bass traps in the right angled corners, but I am not sure how large they need to be. Ceiling height in both rooms are right at 9 feet and I plan on sloping the vocal booth ceiling at an angle and putting a cloud in the mix room. I am also looking for advice on carpet vs hardwood flooring in either room and anything else I might be missing.

The rooms will mostly be used for song writing and post production.

Hi there " bhbeatz". Please read the forum rules for posting (click here). You seem to be missing a couple of things!

Before treating your room, I would first set it up correctly: get the geometry correct for the speakers and listening position. When that is done, then treat your first reflection points (including the ceiling) and put you bass traps in. Then measure the room response, and treat whatever issues still remain.

It's a small room, so it will need a LOT of bass trapping: make them large. I would suggest "superchunk" style traps, at least 24" across the diagonal, and preferably 36".

Forget carpet. It has no uses, acoustically. Keep your floors hard and reflective, and treat the ceiling accordingly.
