Cool! Obviously a John Sayers studio! No doubt about that. Pity they didn't put some samples of the music on there, so we can hear better what the place sounds like. But I'm betting it sounds even better than it looks!

Nice work, John. (As always.) I hope they send those photos soon.

Wow! Looks really nice, John.

I like the group, and the song too: Just not so much the mixing! (Sorry: I'm just just not a big fan of hard left/right panning. And the guitars sound a little "thin".) But the vocals are clean, and that's what matters, since that is room sound!

I am curious on cieling treatment for the control room and also on the slats absorbers/diffusors in the drum room ! What is the concept behind it? Diffuse and broad band mid low absorbtion ?

I can't comment on John's proprietary designs, but I can give you a general idea of what's going on there. The walls with slats all over them are called "slot walls", and work on the principle of Helmholtz resonance. So they are tuned to specific frequencies, or a specific range of frequencies, unique to that room. Slot walls also provide reflection, some diffusion (outside the tuned range, usually), and some absorption at very low frequencies.

There's a couple of ways of doing it: You can design a slot wall to be a broad-band device that treats a whole range of frequencies. or you can design it to hit a series of very specific frequencies. What you see here looks like it is for broad-band.

The triangular shaped units on the wall work on the same principle, but also provide diffusion and reflection down to very low frequencies. And they are also tuned.

But all of that is carefully positioned and carefully tuned by John for this specific room, and the specific requirements of his customer. There might also be other "magic" going on inside those units (and also in side the slot walls) that isn't visible from the outside...
