Soundproof doors for band rehearsal studio

Find out where to get building materials in your local area. If you find a good outlet post it and others will be able to access it through the search engine.

Soundproof doors for band rehearsal studio

Post by fullontad »

I am in the process of building 5 concrete rehearsal studios. with 400mm thick walls.
would anyone have any advice on what kind of doors to use. ie. make my own? or get a specialist manufacturer to make and install.the sizes are 2300mm by 1000mm and wether to use double doors. probably aiming to get a 5odb+ reduction.I am in London. There seems to be many options. Thanks for your time

Hi. Please read the forum rules for posting (click here). You seem to be missing a couple of things! :)

There are several ways of building isolation doors, but that might not be the solution you are looking for. Isolation is an "all or nothing" proposition, and the doors are only part of that. Even if you do manage to build doors that give you 50 dB of isolation, that would be no use at all if the walls, ceiling, floor, windows, HVAC system and electrical system do not also give you at least 50 dB of isolation. The isolation is only as good as the weakest link. For example, if your floor, walls, doors, windows and floor are all good for 50 dB, but your ceiling only give you 30 dB, then your total isolation is 30 dB.

So, without know anything more about your build, there isn't much that anyone here can recommend, other than to say that both built or bought will work, but that you would most likely spend more money on buying purpose-built acoustic isolation doors than you would on building them yourself.

Well if you want to install sound proof door for your studios then I would suggest that you purchase a video cd from [SPAM REMOVED] as they are showcasing all types of green projects and highlighting its sustainable attributes. All architects, contractors, developers are using this video to promote their marketing before and after constructing the building. You will get all idea on which door to install in your studio.
