Hello,
I tried to search for this but couldn't not find a comprehensible answer. The school that I'm working for is moving into a new building where we will have 3 purposely built control rooms connected to one live room.
I'm trying to find out if there is a suitable Cat5 system as an alternative to analog tie lines. Something along the lines of the Roland REAC system (http://www.roland.com/products/en/exp/REAC.html), however this is a propriety system and as we're connecting to analog consoles not really suitable.
Other alternatives are Aviom and Optocore.
I'm hoping to hear from people who have experiences of such a system or with specific ones mentioned. Ideally it would just be tie lines with analog xlr's in - cat5 to xlr's/edac/dsubs.
Thanks for your help.
Johan

Re: Digital tie lines
I've never used it myself, but I've heard good things about the FiberPlex "Light Viper" system. Not sure if that might be an option for you. It's not Cat5, but rather fiberoptic, but it still might do what you want.
