The dimmer dilemma

Post by dufo »

I'm wondering , having three phase power, if I have lighting on a different phase to the audio gear does that mean I don't have to worry about the potential noise from a dimmer system? Thanks

Potential noise is reduced, not eliminated. There are many ways that dimmer noise can get into your system, and not all of them are related to being on the same phase. It also depends on how your 3-phase supply is wired, how the neutral is derived, and how the grounding is accomplished. But that said, putting lights on a different phase is a really good idea, and does help to sharpy reduce some of the possibilities.
