panel traps

does a panel trap have to be connected to a wall or can they be moveable boxes
reason is that i have 2 of the same size boxes made of plywood i think its 1/2" and the dimensions are roughly 3' tall 2' wide and 1' deep
i was wanting to know if this could be turned into some type of moveable trap or if i should just cut them in half and seal them to an existing wall.
also for another situation in the room i would like to somehow take advantage of is the fact that there is another empty garage on the other side of my right wall, and where there use to be a door way which is about 6" deep i currently have a piece 3/4" plywood covering the door way which is just about 4x7. is there a way to turn this into a panel trap or will i have to get a thinner piece of wood
lastly is ther any value as far as bass absorption for a raised floor of about 8", that is not sealed
thanks for the help
always appreciated
