Hi guys,
So I have finally finished building the studio (original construction post here http://www.johnlsayers.com/phpBB2/viewt ... 1&t=14194)and its time to start treating.
Attached are photos and sketchup snapshots of the finished room.
Currently the focus is the big space/live room which may double as control room to start with as this will mainly be a tracking studio. What was originally planned as the control room may in fact end up as drum/amp room. Eitherway the focus is on getting a clean fairly lively sound out of the main space.
Have spoken to a few people and the general consensus seems to be that the angled roof is the main problem and that I should hang absorbers or even bass traps facing the floor all along the peak. Next bass traps in the corners and finally was thinking diffusors along the exposed angled walls/roof.
Does this sound like a reasonable plan?
I have about 3-4k euros to spend for now and was going to spend it all on manufactured bass traps and diffusors making broadband panel absorbers myself from rigid rockwool panels.

Many years ago my studio was in a room nearly identical to this. There was no low end at the mix position. I put bass traps in the three corners where they would fit and it helped a lot. I put diffusors on the back wall, which seemed to make it sound "bigger." And I put basic absorption on the two side walls. I did this by fixing absorbers to very thin plywood and hanging the panels about six inches in front of the side walls. It helped quite a bit, and I believe the distance from the side wall also contributed to helping the bass response at the mix position (in addition to the traps). My window wasn't as large as yours. I left it uncovered (I just couldn't give that up). In your case I think you may have to cover some of it to get the absorption you need, but maybe not.... A little experimentation can tell you a lot.

Evelyn, what are you talking about? This poster is not asking about bass traps: he is asking about the layout of his room!

Also, please check the forum rules before you post any more.

I think EvelynArado is communicating from a parallel universe or some other dimension judging by the posts.

For some strange reason, the theme tune from "Twilight Zone" keeps playing through my mind... :)
