DIY monitors

Post by shanesix »

Can any of the speaker experts give me some input ?
Thanks.

I have attached the response charts of an enclosure I calculated using win ISD.
Can you tell me if this range is suitable enough for mid field monitors?

Without knowing what the vertical divisions are, it is hard to say, but in any event that speaker would not be much use in a studio unless it is associated with a subwoofer and a crossover that can match the roll-off. Plus, the graph only shows response up to 1K! What about the other half of the spectrum?

On the other hand, reality rarely matches software prediction, and a huge amount of the response of the speaker as a whole depends on the drivers you put in it, how well they are matched to the enclosure, and the quality of electronics that provides the power for the whole thing.
