Nvidia Video Cards and Sketchup 8

I recently installed sketchup version 8 and it appeared to have all sorts of problems. Finally, with the help of Gullfo, I've solved the problem which was the latest Nvidia drivers. When I went back to an older Nvidia driver all the problems went away.
So if you are using a nvidia video card and are experiencing problems with sketchup 8 try going back to an older driver.

Thanks for the heads-up, John! I hadn't installed V8 yet, and now I'm glad I didn't. Maybe I'll wait for a bug fix release before I do....

i don't think it's a sketchup problem, more of a Nvidia problem.

best as i can tell from the technical postings @ Google Sketchup, the later nVidia DirectX 10 & 11 drivers and the latest OpenGL standard aren't very friendly yet so even turning off hardware acceleration doesn't get it working.
Besides, if John couldn't get his SU8 working, he couldn't post on Google Earth...

yet with my old 2008 nvidia driver SU 8 works with Open GL and hardware acceleration.

DirectX 9 with Windows XP, DirectX 10 with Vista.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DirectX -- looks like a lot of variations in DX which could account for one version working over another...
