does AK Board work as a 703 equivalent?

Hello there,

I am from Canada (Burnaby, BC), and Owens-Corning 703 can be a little bit tricky to find here (or so I've been told.) I'm looking to find it for making broadband absorbers and bass-traps. Anyway, I called up a place nearby and they said that they sell AK Board as a substitute. I ordered a bundle (10 2" thick pieces at around $125), and I was hoping someone might be able to tell me if this is the right stuff. Or at least if it's close enough.

I found this chart on their website, but I'm not sure what to make of it exactly. http://www.imanson.com/files/manson/upl ... OARD_0.pdf I believe the type they had in stock was 2.25 PCF.

Any help would be very much appreciated, thank you!

P.S. I know in the 'read first' post I'm told I should provide room details. I do have them and have built a model using sketch up, but I wasn't sure if that information would be necessary for this question. So I can provide it if asked.

That stuff has some wonky absorption characteristics. If you can cancel the order and call Roxul's BC plant for their dealers in the area.

Alright, I'm not committed to the order. I'll do that. Thanks.

*edit: I called the Roxul plant and apparently there's a place that's 4 minutes away from my place that sells Roxul AFB, so I'll buy that instead.

Great stuff.

I strongly suggest you post a thread on your build design and construction. Sharing the wealth and learning a lot too. Note my signature line...

About that, Andre: I think the numbers in your signature line are waaaaay wrong. I'd say it is more like 95% and 5%. Maybe even 98% and 2%..... :)
