Variable Depth PAnel Absorbers

We usuallly take the absorption characteristics of a variable depth panel absorber as being equivalent to a panel absorber with constant depth yielding the same volume. The attached document is a thesis addressing such absorption predictions. The quick summary is:
the average of the min amd max is somewhat closer to the peak frequency than the average depth; and
the absorption has a broader peak than the constant depth absorber.
