Room Acoustics Resources - For a Newbie!!

Hi Everyone,

I've been on and off this site for a year or so. I have two small rooms at my house, one that i listen and mix in and the other for recording acoustic instruments (anything but a drum set) and vocals, and I'm ready look into acoustic treatments. I've read a lot of great posts about how to design, build, and implement various acoustic structures (panels, gobos, bass traps etc). However, I'd love to find a good book, article, post, website..... anything that would help me figure out how to test/calculate both room's particular frequencies and then develop a course of action for treating both rooms.

In short, I'd like to learn more acoustic theory, but on a very practical level. I'm not an acoustic engineer, and I don't aspire to be at this point. I'd just like to gain foundational knowledge that would help now in my current home (which we rent), and in the future when I build a home with a dedicated studio.

So if you know of any good resources for a very GREEN recording engineer Do-It-Yourselfer it would be GREATLY appreciated.
