baffle size question (soffit mounting asp8's)

Hi there,
need a little help here:
I am still wondering whether to soffit mount my Event ASP8's or not.
My main concern is that the width of the baffle is limited to 72cm
(or about 29") through the space i have
while the bass driver is 8" and the ASP8 is 12 1/2" wide.
Then i read in another post that the width of the baffle should be
at least 5 times the size of the bass driver (2 times as wide as the
bass driver on each side plus the driver itself).
So the baffle should be 40" then.
My question is, would i still benefit from flush-/soffit mounting my ASP's
or should i leave them on my speaker stands ?
If the smaller baffle would lead into the wall for an "infinite baffle" construction,
does it matter then if the baffle was angled to the wall (convex) ?
And does the wall size add to the baffle size, thus solving the above problem ?
