SPAM IN A SHOE versus fostex full range drivers

What would be the most versatile driver for near field/surround speakers.

I explain: If I had the opportunity to make small cabinets for near field monitors(for tv mixes) but I would like to use them (5) for a surround system for DVD playbac in my TV room. Having small boxes could simplify my quest for versatility(with eventually a sub for DVD).

I would like to have full range drivers (except for sub).

The jordans(JX92S) ot the Fostex(???model?) Drivers about 5 to 6 inches dia.

Here the price consideration is of middle weight:between $100 to $200 (no more) per driver.

I want good imaging/headroom/bandwidth speakers(well, am-I asking too much!?)

Oops I've forgot: I would also like to have some ideas on schematics(enclosures, condensers if needed to smooth out some frequencies), because I want to build the enclosures myself.

Many thanks guys :)

Well, I do have the Killatone design posted. http://johnlsayers.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=297

However, you'll notice that I give strong caveats in that thread about NOT using these as your primary monitors. Yes, there are tradeoffs with crossover networks and such, but full range drivers have horrible levels of distortion. Some people might enjoy this sound, but full range drivers simply cannot be compared to the accuracy of multi-way systems.
