Hi guys, i am starting to plan my acoustics for my control room first, below are pics of what i intend to do, please comment and any suggestions would be appreciated.

The wall panels will be 50mm deep and the bass traps in the corners i am deciding on either going the superchunks way or a cheaper alternative would be to leave the gap behind the corner frame empty. (corner traps will be 100mm deep for the frame, should this be efficient.

I was planning on using rockwool for my panels and bass traps but 703 47.5 is cheaper in my area and more readily available. does this matter.

room size is 4m in front, 6m at back, 3m height and the walls are splayed, the length of the splayed wall is 4.97

47.5kg/m3? should be OK. also consider the ceiling for clouds. check out Kendale's clouds if you want ideas for some really nice clouds

The wrt 47.5, im not too clear on what you mean with m3? but i checked on the specs it and it says, energylite 47.5 sold in rolls of 10000 x 1200 x 25/40 or 50, there is a m3 figure on the spec sheet and it reads for the 25 - 0.364, 40 - 0.512 and 50 - 0.425 r you looking for this info or is it just as i thought cubic metres....

which should be better in your oppinion for the panels and for the bass traps. would you recommend superchunks for the corner traps or just a frame with a air gap behind?

I am definately going to put up clouds aswell, im deciding if i should install clouds or angle the actual ceiling in front as its a new ceiling installation.

Per cubic metre. The full unit is kilograms per cubic metre.

OFF TOPIC: I watched The condemend last night and i couldnt help but think that Glenn looks alot like steve austin in the movie haha!

Me again! Ok Guys, here is my final question before i send my order through for the material i will need to build my panels.

Glenn you said that 47.5 kg/m3 resin bonded glasswool insulation should be ok, is there perhaps something better you think i should rather try use?

I can get 47.5 kg/m3 or 16, 18, 24, 64 or 96, which density could you recommend for my acoustic wall panels and what depth do you think i should make the panels - ie: 25mm, 40mm or 50mm? do you also recommend the cloth i use for the panels front to be touching the insulation or should i leave a small 10mm air gap between the cloth and wool in the front? perhaps this is not even relevent with no difference between the two?

should i then also use the same density for the corner superchunks bass traps as the wall panels?

any advice?

That 47,5 kg/m3 is what you need. for walls and basstraps it's good stuff.
Density for absorbing pannels ain't that important it's the volume of the device that makes the difference (tho stiffer stuff will absorb more bass and reflect more high. But then we're talking great density (kg/m3) differences.). Same goes for the "thickness" (read volume) of wool in between your walls. And that 47,5kg/m3 is best in all frq ranges, for what it's worth.

As I said, more volume (thicker wool) is better.
For making panels I'd advise even thicker than 50mm. .. . bigger is better
