New French Gypsum panel +3db

Hello everyone,
There's a big buzz arround this new gypsum panel introduced by Saint Gobain in France. It's called "Placo Phonique".
All the online documentations are in French. At least, i coundn't find any english one to link it here. So here's the french PDF if anyone interested:

Thickness = 12.5 mm
A standard Gypsum panel of 250 x 120 cm cost 7.70 €
Placo Phonique of 250 x 120 mm cost 13,45 €
Looks like this new panel is only interesting when finished thickness is a problem. Otherwise i don't see any advantage.
Any thoughts ?
