low voltage lighting hum and telecasters

Post by Steve Honest »

hi chaps
i am currently buiding a new studio in london england, and i want to try and avoid a problom i often come across with low volatage lighting , casuing my telcasters to hum and rizz , particularly when i crank up the gain with overdrive and compression pedals to my amps, is there anything i can specify in the lighting circuit to the builder that will rpevent me having to work in the dark?
best

make sure the lighting is on an entirely separate circuit from the power outlets, ensure you are not using electronic dimmers - use transformer dimmers at worst case, keep all the lighting electronics far and away. if you stage the lighting correctly you can avoid dimmers all together (at the expense of extra switches and wiring).
