Milling commences.....Always goes slower than I hope for...Should have the desk done inside of 2 weeks all the same.

Keep the photos coming! I love watching how your place is coming together.... And so do lots of other people, who seem to be quietly following your thread. There's over 26,000 views, so far...
Also, I'm starting to work on a plan for improving the Live Room...

Could only get a few hours in today, but at least I got something done. Stuart, Sketchup is running really slow and hanging up a lot these days. Are you having any issues with the model on your end?

The model is getting to be pretty big now, with all the details in there. It's around 85 megabytes. SketchUp start bogging down with files that big, on systems that don't have a lot of CPU power, RAM, or graphics power. I had to buy a maxed-out system for the same reason, a couple of years ago (8 CPU cores, 16 GB RAM, SSD, Nvidia graphics, etc.), just so that I can deal with large models.
I've been complaining to Trimble for years about the slowness of their product on large models, as have many, many other users, but they don't seem to care. With each new release, they insist on adding even more "features" that aren't much use to anybody, rather than fixing all the bugs in the existing code and adding the features that users really want. Go figure! Not a very user-friendly company. And they charge a small fortune for the "Pro" version, which I have to buy so I can do commercial work with it....
Excuse the rant!
Anyway, what you could do, is export just the desk to another file, and work on it there. Double-click down through the layers, until you have just the desk highlighted, then right click and select "Save As" from the menu. Give it a different name, close the full model and open the desk-only model. It will go much faster.

I have an i9 8 core cpu with 64 gigs of RAM(for music sample libraries),ssd, a good nvidia card and its still sucking, so I don't think its the hardware on my end either.

Got some much needed rain coming our way...Will probably be slowed down a day or two during the stain and clear coat process. The hours do rack up! No pun intended.....
Stuart, can I get rid of a bunch of Denim insulation that I have? I doubt you'll use it in the LR. I'm guessing 703 all the way!

Looking pretty good, Frank! And going pretty fast, as well! Wow.
I didn't realize the fire was that closet to you: and I'm REALLY glad that the fire didn't get to your place! That would have been major tragic.

The major fires aren't close, but there are several fires that have popped up around me in the meantime. Fortunately, our firefighters are amazing and have put them all out quickly. If there was any serious wind as well, then things would probably have gone much worse. We got rain coming tomorrow night, so I think we're safe for awhile after that.

Well despite getting a sinus infection from sawdust and smoke and Thanksgiving going on, I managed to get some work done. Still have to do all of the clear coats and got rain tomorrow. I expect to have the desk done no later than next Wednesday. I'd get it done sooner if it wasn't for the clear coats...

The desk is looking good, too!
