It has been a while, but all of the drywall is on, taped and mudded, now I am building the shapes of the room. Here are the frames for the speakers to be mounted in.

Excellent! I can't wait to see your room finished, Eric!

By the way, is your ceiling based on the CID concept? It sort of looks like it. Very cool.

Yes, I am doing the CID. I've adjusted the angles a little bit from my first plan based on a few things that had to come out a little different based on the realities when I started building.

Thanks!

Ahh yes! Realities. The bane of my life.... They ALWAYS seem to get in the way of doing it the way you really wanted!

Have you settled on your speaker design yet? I recall you had that pretty much figured out a while back, and I'd really like to see what you have in mind. They are still going to be your own design, correct?

This is going to be a fascinating build! Not too many folks here have the know-how to do that.

Hi Stuart,

Yes I am still going with the original speakers in this thread http://www.johnlsayers.com/phpBB2/viewt ... 12&t=16933. I had talked about going with the Hiquphon OW1 tweeter that I won in a raffle, but they don't model as nice as the SB29s do, and I do like all of the speakers that I have heard with them, so I have decided to go with the original plan.

Since I'm planning on doing the final measurements for the crossover in place (even though hopefully they won't vary too much with the manufacturers measurements), I won't be able to work on the speakers until I have the room finished.

I figure that I only have about 20 hours worth of work, but on my pace, that probably translates to about a year.

I figure:
Control room window (framing is already done, I just have to put it in place) 1hr.
Floor 4hrs
Trim (install and paint) 5 hours
Final electrical 1 hr.
Acoustic treatment 10 hrs

After that it is speaker time!

On my last post I said that it would probably be a year, it looks like a year and 5 months.

Getting good use out of the live room, but I have finally started getting work done in the control room again. I finished the window the rear absorber and the side and overhead wedges. I have 24 channels of wiring between the two room that can be used in any configuration with breakout boxes.

Things left to do:
The final power wiring (1 hr)
Sealing the door (2 hr)
Flooring (6 hr)
Trim and paint (4 hr)
Build the main speakers. (20 hr)

The first 3 should take two weeks (a total of about 13 hours) but that translates into 2 months Eric time.

Awesome Eric, it's coming along!

I've had the pleasure of playing and recording drums Eric's live room. What a great sounding room!

Excited to see the control room done man, keep up the good work.
