I've had the flu for the past week and am just about to put some more pics up. Having said that, I have had the aircon guy in this week and he asked me me to ask you, if I should use acoustic duct? as he is worried that sound from the vocal and drum booths might bleed sound through the ducts into each studio while tracking.

Is this possible and what is the is the best way to combat this? He suggests acoustic duct, the stuff with the holes on the inside or should I make some of those bafel boxes up and put one say between the vocal booth and drum room and drum room and large tracking and finally one from tracking just before going into control?

well you are from Victoria and everyone in vic has the flu as I understand it

The metal boxed acoustic duct is preferential when there is only a short run.

hi mike,
i've finished with the lifter, but there may be a problem. it only lifts to 11ft (3.35m) and your ceiling looks pretty high. could you check this is still ok. if so, i could drop by monday evening if that suits.

Thanks for your email...The plaster lifter will be OK as it only has to lift 3.0 exactly so it will be ok ,,,,YAHOOOO

Hi Guys

I have just started to put in the inner ceiling, first layer of 16m/m firecheck plaster board and I think I made blew, me thinks. I have put down lights in the ceiling and now there are 80m/m holes to house the units.

My question is....Does the whole of the inner ceilng have to be airtight? If so, I can put the downlights in a ceiling cloud and then plug up the holes. I will then put in the second layer which should seal it good....!!!

Any advice would be well appreciated

OOPS,

Were you going to go with a cloud anyway?
I'd be plugging up the holes doing the 2nd layer and looking at a surface mount light or a cloud.

Deanna's right Mike - you'll have to seal the holes up and mount your lights in the clouds

Thanks for your expert advice....that's exactly what I thought. I can fix the problem no dramas and seal the tracking room.
I like the idea of putting the down lights in the clouds, as I feel the ceilings will need some absorbstion anyway...!!
How much of course will depend on the room when I have finished construction.

Mike - there are two types of cloud - one allows the sound through so it reflects off the ceiling and goes back through the absorption again, (good low end absorption) or the cloud has a solid upper surface and when angled breaks up floor to ceiling standing waves.

Lights can be installed in either, a cloud is your friend
