Re: JB's New Studio, the build thread
What do it do i mean
It ain't designed as regular stuff.. It first got that wool or something then some thin plywood then some air space, then the backlid. a regular is just like wool
Need something to collect all the soundsource from my guitar amp so i don't get any reflections back so it feedsback. Only the direct sound. Recording Vocals to.

Generally Gobos have two sides, one absorptive and one reflective so you can turn it arround

Exactly. According to some sources, that's even where the name comes from. It is called a "GoBo" because it "GOes BOth" ways.Generally Gobos have two sides, one absorptive and one reflective so you can turn it arround
In the most basic form it is just a panel of wood (plywood, MDF, etc) standing up vertically, mounted on wheels, and with a sheet of 703 on one side. When the 703 side faces your sound source, you get absorption. When the wood side faces your side source, you get refection.

AAAH so the side with this at the right side is the absorbive side? And anyone knows what actually happens to the sound. what it does. And i guess you could make the board side of the GoBo as a Diffusor also? like only glueing/nailing on those kind of planks that they have in Diffusors onto the board?? And think it would be a good idea to glue on such Thin Absorbent like some Auraflex 2" Wedges ONTO to the Acoustic material you mainly have in the gobo? Bad explenation.. but you do see the pic i guess?Exactly. According to some sources, that's even where the name comes from. It is called a "GoBo" because it "GOes BOth" ways.

Gobo is a film term, about changing light.
you place a gobo in front of a light to create "leaves in the moonlight" or a "car passing" "blinds in the window"

It's also a recording studio term.
Wiki:
"An acoustics gobo is parallel in use to a photography gobo, which is used to block direct light sources, and also shares its name with the stage lighting gobo. "
"Some possible uses include the treatment of recording and mixing areas for unwanted reverb, or to separate two or more musicians so they may play in the same room at the same time whilst being miced separately."

They think it might mean "Go Between"

Re: JB's New Studio, the build thread
I just spent like $100us on new lights and i got a very cool vibe in my control room. I used blue and green lights placed behind the desk and some panels, also on the walls aiming and "painting" the walls.
I think its very important to get a cool vibe that supports your creativity and makes you want to work in there, rather than an perfect acoustic room (well, that is important too)
Maybe we should open a sticky on how to decor your studio!!
PD. pics soon

Also , I've noticed a lot (maybe an expert could confirm this) that when you work with low lighting, you get a better stereo image when listening. I think something has to do with less distraction from your sight sense, and you get more focused on what you hear. Its so cool because if you mix for example, with no lights at all, you can almost "see" things along when you pan them
