2 car garage

Post by Warren Goold »

Can two of the dual pane glass panels 4' x 7.5'
for the window between studio and control room
be used, one angled or have I accquried trash since the panels
are of the same thickness, and dual pane?

regarding the walls:
5/8 drywall > 1/2 drywall> stagered steel studs W/insulation >
5/8 drywall> 3/8 drywall, inner & outer portions of wall floted atop of 1/8" rubber
this will work if I am reading your thread correctly?

Thanks Again and again &

anyway, can you go over this drawing and make a suggestion please
and is that vox booth going to be OK?

Knightfly thank you so much for all your insight I may have a ? or ??

welcome back Warren - here we go for another year :):)

so you've got the whole space - cool - I assume the garage is 31 x 20 and you've left 3ft? for the rolla doors - but why the space at each end - can't you go the full width?? - also where are the door/s to the house??

cheers

2 car garage to a 3 car studio

Post by Warren Goold »

 Well I could but by the new drawing you can see that the space I intend to use is lower, and on a seperate slab than the ones that are 4" higher. I thought it might be more hassle then it was worth to try to make it work, (Ive been wrong before) and that the extra air space might give me more isolation from the outside world.

Can think of better use for the space on the lower floor, than the drawing I have submitted?

Thanks John  Glad to see a back

Warren - your layout is fine - just the geometry of the control room needs attention.

or you could do something like this so you don't have to go through the studio to get to the control room.

3 car garage to a studio

Great Design John I would like too use it. I have just a few questions
(1) Are the doors double that enter the various rooms.
(2) What exactly are the dimensions of the rooms and wall angles.
(3) The brownish colored areas, is that insulation covered with cloth
that is framed in or is it drywalled in to get the desired geometry

Alot of questions I kno but I am submitting the plans to the county for
a permit then to the contractors and soon I can get back to work, Lord willing

John, Steve and Giles
Thank you all so much for your help
All the best in this year to come.

Design is submitted for a permit

:D

My Design has been submitted to the county for approval.
Many thanks for all your help!
I was also wondering about hanging bass absorption panels in the areas outside the inner rooms, where there is, on the far ends a 2' X 8' X 20'6" space, at the ends of unused hallway area 3'X 8' x 10' space, and also in the attic above.

Would hanging these panels be a help, hassle or hindrance? I had read in a past post about the formulas of the calculators used to determine the proper size of panel to the frequency to be reduced where wrong on some sites.
Does anyone know the write one to use?
