I personally prefer the spalyed wall to go past the mixing position and I don't like the idea of a window opposite a parallel wall.

So why not do this?

Cool.:)

Ok, how about this as a final compromise which includes some storage area?

The light green areas should be filled with hangers except for the lower 7 feet in the walkable floor space of the storage area. The dark green lines indicate cloth covered openings above the window and door near the ceiling apex.

I'm not sure what you are gaining from the change??

Mainly just storage space.

A couple posts back Mangled said he really wanted to leave room for storage. That's why his original control room drawing looked sort of squashed. So I just pulled the right wall in about 0.5 meters. There might be a very slight cost in reverberant and modal characteristics, but the deep bass response will probably be a little better since most of the space will be filled with hangers.

Ah - I liked you idea of the hangers in the ceiling area - but as the room is so small I wouldn't loose any more floor space.

Nice...I think this will be the way to go...

Still a lot of reconstruction to do but it will be for the better!
John, why do you think the space is so small? I thought it was pretty large for a control room. I was planning to do some mastering activities there also. Is it too small for that?
Thomas, do I still need the cloth covered cavities incl. hangers near the floor?

Are the cavities just holes in the wall or are they some sort of air tight boxes with the cloth covered opening facing the room?

Can all new walls be just a single layer of drywall?

Ok thanks....gotta go to sleep...it's 02:04 AM

Yeah - you'ree right - I never scaled your drawing - here it is to scale with a 7ft couch and 7ft console :)

That room would sound great :)

John, just another question about the rear end design.
Should it be non-symmetrical or schould there be a splayed wall in the RH rear corner also?

I'd put a low end hanger bass trap in the RH corner as well as the ceiling design that barefoot suggested.
