Sorry...One more thing - the ceiling under the stairs would have to follow the angle of the stairs. The spot at which the northernmost wall of the vocal booth on the left is would have a ceiling of right around 1 m, angled at 45 degrees. Should I shrink the vocal room?

if that's the case I'd put a window in there and angle the ceiling to fit. Make your entrance to the studios via the front between the speakers.

Do I use a normal, solid-core, windowless door from the CR to the recording room? One with a window (THAT'S got to be tough to insulate ;-D)? A sliding glass door (though it seem too small)?
Also, what's the narrowest the room to the left coujld be? I'm unable to build on the other side of the stairs. I don't mind it being a "dead" vocal booth, or just a "dead" amp room...

I'd use double glass doors to the studio - it's tooo narrow for sliders.
Just make it a small vox booth (or amp booth) with a small window for communication.
