I'm in ontario canada, and owens corning says they do not sell it in canada.
OC has a great reputation for bad customer service. OC Canada is headquartered in Montreal. Try also OFI (Ottawa Fibre Inc), Knauf Canadian headquarteres in Richmond Hill, and Fibrex in Sarnia. Ask for 3lb/ft^3 glass or 4lb/ft^3 mineral insulation. Yes they are both mineral wool, but that is the industry norm in North America.

Also, try commercial insulation firms. They use this type of material all the time.

As a bonus here is the email address for the customer rep in Montreal.

Another query for you all. On the corner traps, do i mount the insulation right to the back of the slats?

U can. Although there has been much discussion abut what is more critical in the case of the resonator design here, the fabric or the Insulation, but I believe in this case as it is a bass trap primarily, the Insul should be upagainst the fabric which is up against the slats.

Awesome, thank you very much.

Time to get back to the labourous task of basement wiring....

Just thought of another question. Is there any harm in putting the bass traps and slot resonators on casters? One of the corners had a closet i need to get at, so rolling em outta the way would be ideal.

Thanks

Might cause some unwanted vibrations, but you could always put a small throw rug there if it's not already carpeted... Steve

But if you do, use the 4" road case casters. They are of the ball bearing rubber type should vibrate the least of all casters. :)

Just in case you need OC products, here in Montreal we have finally found a great supplier.

www.isofab.com

Contact Patric at Isofab in Montreal (they have offices in Toronto also) and they sell and stock OC 703, 705frk, Ottawa Fibre, Fibrex, Mansville, Roxul, and many other great isolation and insulation materials.

Tell them you are an acoustical contractor, pay cash, pick up the items yourself, and you will get up to 57% off Canadian list price!...

So, I'm about to make these badboys and I had another query. What happens if I don't make them the full height of the ceiling. In two corners I have a one foot by one foot box at the ceiling that goes around some vents.
