Oh I see what you mean. The couch is definitely a must 8)
The green bit on the wall between the superchunks is 50mm rockwool covered in cloth. Is that enough absorbers, or would you hang absorbent panels on top of that?
The room is beginning to take shape now with the side slat walls frames
Pics soon!!

i'd make that 100mm deep and put some widely spaced slats on it to 1) prevent people falling/bumping into it  2) keep it from being dead... see attached for one idea for how to maximize the backwall absorption

Glenn,
Thanks for the pic. That looks really cool, and it would probably also sort out the bass trapping for that end of the ceiling...a couple of BUTs though (sorry to be a PITA....)

- I was thinking of putting the Air Conditioning machine on that wall.
- Between the door and that wall, I have just about 300mm to place the superchunk (the superchunk would be nearly 900mm wide), so I don't know how the vertical splay on your pic would be feasable.

I did a sketch without vertical splay. On top of the AC and between the superchunks would be the ceiling superchunk (not depicted) behind one of the clouds:

What do you reckon?

Great!! :yahoo:

I'll build it 100mm thick and with the same internal structure as in your pic.
It's nearly 1 am here, and I just finished one of those caulking sessions....decided to have a fresh beer before going to bed....
This one is for you

Is it ok to put some extra studs across the side slat walls like this?

Hi again,
some updates: I have finished most of the framing. Now I need to fill with fibreglass. Found color scheme and cloth. Got wood for slats and soffits. Build reinforcement for AConditioning and screen. Praying that caulking and sealing is a thing from the past...

ONE question:
My inner leaf ceiling is at 2.35m. After placing the first rockwool layer inside the frame (50mm) it'll come down to 2.30m. If I have to hang the clouds at 100-150mm from there, I'll be down to 2.20m, plus the thickness of the clouds themselves (aprox 100mm) it'll bring the ceiling down to 2.10....
Is it me or that will be quite low, especially considering this will be all the ceiling, not just a sloped part and that I measure 1.90m?
Maybe I should go back to the original components file idea of half angled ceiling? Maybe you have another suggestion?
All input is very welcome as usual
Some photos...

fill in the framing with the rigid insulation, cover with heavy plastic sheet and then cloth. then use several clouds of 4" rigid insulation on various angles to add some additional absorption. use some widely spaced slats and/or panels on the clouds to preserve some high frequencies. keep the ceiling as high as you can.

Yes, my intention was to follow your example cloud pic. I just get the impression that the ceiling will be very low.
-Can I hang the clouds as near as possible to the ceiling so that the "highest side" is touching it?
-how wide would you build the bass trapping on the ceiling corners? Something like 50-60 cm?

Thanks for your help

the clouds in the front of the room can hang lower and at a steeper angle, and as you move back the can get closer to the ceiling and lay out horizontal. for the size of the bass traps, as large as you can make them and have enough clearance and be comfortable.

mmm btw, any illumination/lighting ideas/suggestions? I'd like to have some ambience lights (initially I thought Of creating these by placing bulbs behind wall panels, but now I dont have wall panels anymore :)), and proper light over the desk (I know some find it very cool to mix in a semi dark inspiring atmosphere, but at the desk I like to see what my fingers are tweaking
Thanks

LED lighting. you can embed them into your clouds. also the ambient lighting could be done by using LED tube lights (a string of LED in a clear or colored plastic tube) around the upper parts of your clouds etc.
