Daisy-chaining speakers

Post by JoeMilner »

Hi
This is embarassing, but is there a "proper" way to daisy-chain 4 speakers off 2 stereo amp channels?
I have 4 JBL 8340A Cinema Surround speakers and a Hafler P7000 amp, and would like to have each side of the amp feeding 2 speakers for each side of the stereo surrounds. The 8340's are 8ohms, rated at 250w continuous pink, 1000w peak. The Hafler is rated at 350wpc into 8ohms (FTC).

Thanks in advance!

The JBLs are 8 Ohms and the P7000 can easily drive 4 Ohms, so you should run the speakers in parallel. So each channel would look like this:

Code: Select all

Amp Spkr1 Spkr2
[+]------------|-(+)-|--------|-(+)-|
               | | | |
[-]------------|-(-)-|--------|-(-)-|

Thanks Thomas!
Is there any difference/benefit from piggy-backing the banana plugs at the amp instead of at the speaker?
